What is advanced riding?
Advanced Riding is based upon the 'System of motorcycle control' as detailed in Motorcyle Roadcraft - The Police Riders Handbook.
It is a deliberate, skilful and responsible riding technique.
As an advanced rider, you are able to anticipate and control situations to reduce your accident risk.
An advanced rider is equipped with the knowledge and skill to ride safely and effectively in all conditions.
What can I expect from a training session?
Friendly, informal advice aimed at taking your riding to an advanced level.
At each session, you will be allocated an experienced RoSPA approved Tutor.
We aim to spend as much time as possible out on Ayrshire's fabulous, varied road network, in practical training, consisting of demonstration and observed runs with debriefs covering roadcraft theory and ride observations.
Our Tutors are volunteers. Keen bikers who enjoy getting out on the roads and being able to pass on knowledge and skills to like-minded riders.
The group will work with you to get you to RoSPA advanced rider standard.
Though entirely optional, most of our members go on to take the RoSPA advanced test which many regard as the most comprehensive and challenging available to the public.
Achieving a test pass means you will be amongst the best trained riders on the road.
